Logging a run

How do I start a run?

Find a Grid phone box. Dial 08000 14 13 12 and follow instructions. You will not be charged for the call. You will be asked to confirm your date of birth and enter your unique game code. Wait for confirmation that your details have been logged. Then hang up and get running.

How do I end a run?

The same way you start a run.

What happens if I don't end a run?

You can keep playing Grid. But you won't score any points for a run you don't complete.

How can I check my run has been logged?

Check the run log on your profile page. If you win a badge or break a record, a post will also be made to your Facebook profile. You can edit how you receive notifications and publish achievements in your settings page.

Do I have to run at a certain time of day?

No. Run at the crack of dawn. Run in the middle of the night. Run whenever you want. Just remember to run safe. If you're heading out after dark, try running with friends and wear something reflective. It might not look cool, but it will get you home in one piece to run another day.

I've forgotten my unique game code.

Grid sends you an email and SMS confirming your unique game code when you register. That information is also stored on your settings page.

Phone boxes

How do I find a Grid phone box?

Use the maps on this site, the Grid Phone Box Finder at nikegrid.com/mobile or the map PDFs available on the Grid Facebook page.

How do I report a problem with a phone box?

Grid can't control the streets. During the game, some phone boxes might go down. If you have a technical problem with a Grid phone box, email grid@nike.com. Grid will update all players on Facebook if the status of a phone box changes during the game.

What if someone's using a phone box when I get there?

That's for you to figure out. Just remember to run responsibly, respect other players and respect the Grid.

Postcode

Do I have to run in my own postcode?

No. The gameboard has 48 postcodes. You can run in any of them.

I don't live in London. Can I still play?

Yes. If you can get to London and get running, you can play.

Can I run in more than one postcode?

Yes. You can score more points and earn more badges if you run in more postcodes.

What happens if I run across a postcode boundary?

You can't score points by running across a postcode boundary. For example - if you start a run in W1 and try to end it in W2, your run will not be logged. But you will have the option to continue your run and get back to W1. You will not lose points for running across a boundary.

Teams

How do I create a team?

Log in and go to CREATE TEAM. There you can choose your team's name and identity. When you're done, start recruiting friends to join your team. Invite as many friends as you want. Your friends can accept or reject your invitation - until your team has 15 players (the maximum number).

How do I join a team?

There are two ways to join someone else's team. Either a team sends you an invite to join - which you can accept or reject in your settings page. Or you can request to join a team - you'll see this option on every team profile page. The team creator will decide if they want to accept your request.

Is there a limit to the number of players in a team?

Yes. You can have a maximum of 15 players in a team. When a team reaches the maximum number of players, they can only recruit if a player leaves.

Can I join a team after the game's started?

Yes. As soon as you run and score points, those points will count towards your team's score.

Can I leave a team after I've joined it?

Yes. If you do, the team creator will receive a message to let them know you have left. Any points you've earned for that team before you leave will stay with that team. If you join a new team, the team points you earn in the future will count towards their score. You can only be in one team at a time.

What happens to my team points if I leave a team?

Your team's score will not change if you leave the team. All the points you scored for the team will stay with the team.

Can I leave a team after I've created it?

Yes. But if you do, the team will disband. So you might have some explaining to do.

Point scoring

How can I score points?

Run. Run more, score more. Every run earns 10 points. If you earn a badge or break a record, you score extra points. Check out the badges page to see how many extra points you can earn for different achievements.

Can I earn a badge more than once?

When you earn a badge, it will show on your profile page and post to your Facebook. Once you have a badge, it's yours. You can complete the achievement again - and earn the extra points that come with it - but you won't receive the badge for a second time.

Can I score points for a team, a uni and a region?

Yes. When you run, you earn points that increase your own score. If you're a member of a team, a uni, or a region, each time you earn points you will also increase their score. You can see your personal score, and which postcode you scored in, on your profile page. Your team has its own profile page too. Region and uni leaderboards can be found on the Grid homepage.

Will my personal score be lower if I don't play for a team, a uni or a region?

No. Your personal score is separate from your team, uni and region scores. You can score just as many personal points however you play.
